EXCAVATING OF THE INNER CHILD
The concept of "inner child" has a dozen definitions. Most popular reference stated by the psychologists is regard it as a part of an adult's psyche that stores childhood memories as well as resources: creativity, lightness, spontaneity and fearlessness. It is to this concept that the artists have turned in their collection of works "EXCAVATING OF THE INNER CHILD". Under layers of paint and plaster they hide toys. The touching bears and geese recall the French concept of DOUDOU. Le doudou is a favorite toy, a personal item that gives a child a sense of security. In the adult world, people lose contact with their childhood feelings. The artistic practice SISTERS IN ART proposes to restore the lost connections. The works are in white to avoid realism and provoke the viewer into a subtle sensual conversation. The artists work at the intersection of sculpture and painting to explore the notion of the inner child and invite the viewer into self-discovery.

In the work “Perseverance” SISTERS IN ART hid a personal story. When Victoria was 5 years old, she really wanted to receive a huge and very beautiful toy goose as a gift, but her parents had other plans. Vika was so impressed that she grabbed the toy and ran away with it to the top floor of the hotel, where she and her family were relaxing. The store owner was amazed by the little girl's persistence and charisma when he gave her a goose. Thus, the emotional charge of the work became a childish spirit of adventurism, which, for the right and understandable reasons, adults, fortunately, can control within themselves. All adventures and adventures in adulthood turn into ambition and perseverance. But toys only store memories.

In the work “Tic Tac Toe,” the artists touched on the topic of sustainable development and the balance between the desire to store favorite things, images (they are responsible for them in the painting Cheburashka and Gena) and awareness of consumption. The irony of the topic is that often a mother who proudly carries a string bag from the supermarket instead of a plastic bag is happy to buy toys for her beloved child and cannot stop at just one. In one topic, people control income and expenses, but in love and collecting they allow themselves unlimited waste of resources. And when childhood ends, adults throw away toys just as easily as they get rid of desires and childhood dreams.

A cute bunny on a hydrangea parachute reminds us of the carefreeness and ease with which we rushed into new experiences as children. About how boldly decisions were made, how open we were to the world and new experiences, not knowing or thinking what lay ahead.
As adults, we endlessly weigh the pros and cons, trying to calculate everything. “I’m afraid of becoming like adults, who are interested in nothing except numbers,” said the Little Prince, reminding us that there is not only a rational part of us, but also an abstract part, which is very much waiting for the opportunity, as in childhood, to accomplish its fearless flight.

We met a bunny with a torn ear and an open belly in one of the huge bags of toys that we were looking for in the nearest towns and villages. Taking care of a toy that they no longer wanted to play with, treatment with cross-stitching and replacing padding polyester gave the bunny a second life, and motivation in the form of carrots transported the one-eared one to a “bright future”, to a new owner. Not just upcycling

The cub lacks strength, constantly falling down, he desperately tries to keep up with his mother. This is how his inner strength is born and strengthened.
Looking up and paws spread wide, ready to grab onto anything - the desire not to retreat or give up, expressed in the bear cub pose, became an inspiration for us and an opportunity to remind adults that the path to new heights is not easy. Growing inner strength gives you a feeling of stability and the ability to find support within yourself. And here we can draw inspiration from children who easily get up after failures, shake off their scraped knees (if you're lucky, they'll apply plantain) and run on.
